It’s completely up to you to choose the one that suits your desire, if you are a blogger that thinks that displaying ads on your blog distract your readers, that’s totally fine you can use affiliate marketing instead and develop it. You really have to follow your guts and do what you think is best for you.
In this article, I’m going to be talking about:
Selling digital products
One of the easiest ways to make money online is definitely affiliate marketing, It’s basically as everyone calls it a “make money while you are sleeping “kind of way. Let’s Find out what is affiliate marketing? And is it a good way of monetization?
Affiliate marketing is when you promote other people’s product. Wait what? Why will I do that?
Well wait a minute and let me tell why, you basically do that in order to earn a commission from the person who is actually selling.
You share the profit with him, because I mean that’s your right. You were the reason behind this purchase, I mean due to your marketing skills people purchased his product, so you deserve a little reward. This reward is generally a percentage ranging from 5% to 20%.
So, let’s do quick maths, if a product is sold at 200$ right?
And the percentage of the commission is 20%.
Yes, you guessed it right, you will get 40$ of profit for ONE product sold. No, if the product is really good (and it should be since you shouldn’t be promoting products that have no value for your audience) you won’t be getting just one sale. You will generate a lot more than that. Let’s say that you made 100 sales right, well that’s 4000$ profit for ONE single product. And you can promote a LOT of products.
So the answer to your question: Is affiliate marketing really worth it? Is absolutely YES. Moreover, it’s one of the easiest ways to start monetizing your blog, and a LOT of bloggers start from it.
For this way of monetizing, I don’t want to get into the usual debate of putting ads to your blog could be distracting your audience from actually reading your content.
As far as I am concerned, blogs in general should reflect your own personality, whether you want to put ads on your blog or not, that’s completely your choice, and you should do as it pleases you.
For me, I guess putting ads on your blog is not as harmful to your content as it is said. As long as you don’t put so many ads, that are going to scare away your audience, or even irrelevant ads that have completely no link to what you are actually discussing on your blog.
Putting few relevant ads can actually be a great source of monetizing because people are really going to be interested in those ads since they are adding value to your content.
You can get a serious amount of money from promotions. There are a lot of opportunities on the net, basically what you have to do is to seize them by offering a sponsored post on your blog, where you will be giving an honest point of view about a certain product, and promoting it to your audience.
You will be paid for each piece of content you created for the sake of promoting their products or services. Amazing right? To be able to make money from the thing you MUST be loving as a blogger, CONTENT CREATION!
It’s seriously one of the greatest ways to make money from your blog, and sometimes they really pay a lot!
Selling digital products
That’s another good way to monetize your blog.
Let me first explain what a digital product is.
A digital product is basically a product you sell online and that doesn’t have a physical form or substance.
It could be an eBook or even a blog theme or a course etc.
You might be wondering why digital products are a thing nowadays? Why shouldn’t we continue to make physical products like the old good days?
Let me enlighten you about the amazing advantages of the digital products:
When you sell digital products:
You don’t have an inventory.
You don’t need a place to stock your products.
Your customers can receive your product immediately; they don’t need to wait days until you ship them the product they get by one click.
Since, you don’t have to worry about all these things, you actually put all your time and effort/ energy into developing a great digital product that’s going to satisfy the need of your readers. So digital products are really great don’t you think?
There are a ton of services you can offer as blogger. I’ve always wanted to be a blogger because I am the type of person who loves to learn about anything and everything, and I personally have a lot of interests. Blogging helps me balance between all of my little passions, and helps me grow in all of them each day. So for me it is an amazing type of business since it has always given me insight about different topics. As a blogger, you are also a content creator, a copywriter, a proofreader, a marketer, an advertiser, a graphic designer, a coach and also a teacher and the list is really endless.
So when you blog you are ultimately growing as person, and there’s a lot of wisdom that you can share with people. I believe that owning a blog is all about sharing knowledge, and I believe that giving the knowledge you’ve accumulated throughout the years should be free and accessible for everyone.
What about monetizing that knowledge?
I believe that there’s no problem for wanting to monetize a part from the knowledge you acquired, through courses or online coaching. On the contrary, it’s very crucial to do so, since it helps you connect on a deeper level with your readers. You’re your readers strongly believe in your wisdom, they will absolutely want to know more and get more of what you have to offer as services, and they will likely be willing to pay to get that extra guidance.
Finally, I wanted to share a little motivational quote with you to BOOST your motivation for today.
I’ve always believed that you should find three hobbies you love:
One to make you money.
One to keep you in shape.
And one to be creative.
What I find amazing about blogging is that it allows me to narrow those three hobbits to just two. Since the hobby that allows me to be creative (which is blogging) is the one that I earn money from.
So my little piece of advice that I need you to really keep in mind is to turn your passion into profit, it’s seriously one of the most rewarding feeling in the world.
